Résumé

Les personnes avec un trouble du spectre de l’autisme sont confrontées à de nombreux défis sociaux dans leur vie professionnelle quotidienne. Malgré leurs qualifications élevées, elles sont souvent au chômage ou sous-employées. Le masking, soit le fait de dissimuler les traits autistiques, est utilisé comme stratégie pour répondre aux attentes sociales et éviter la discrimination. En raison de l’effort cognitif important qu’il requiert, il pèse sur la santé mentale. L’étude présentée montre que le soutien social sur le lieu de travail réduit le masking, et par conséquent, la charge mentale. Les équipes faisant preuve de compréhension et d’acceptation renforcent la participation des employées et employés concernés et créent un environnement de travail favorable pour la santé.
